Progressive Snapshot
Your Snapshot Experience
For customers who come to Progressive with a full set of driving data available from a Progressive-approved source, the Snapshot results are calculated and applied at that time. These customers can still enroll in Snapshot when they purchase their policy to improve their potential for savings over time by sharing updated driving data each policy period. If they choose not to enroll, the driving data shared when they purchased their Progressive policy will continue to be used to personalize their renewal rate. For customers who share driving data through a plug-in device or a mobile app provided by Progressive, the Snapshot experience will continue throughout their policy life:
Enrollment
You can enroll in Snapshot at any time.
Enrollment is required by all drivers on the policy if you choose to monitor using the mobile app.If you choose to monitor using the plug-in device, customers may select which eligible vehicles to enroll. The monitoring method cannot be a mix of mobile app and plug-in device.
If you enroll in Snapshot when you buy your policy, you’ll save immediately with a Participation Discount. The Participation Discount does not apply when Snapshot is added to an existing policy.
Driving Period
Your participation in Snapshot begins when you start sharing your driving data.
Subject to certain eligibility requirements, you may choose to share your driving data with us using either a device that plugs into the OBD port on most vehicles, or a mobile app.
Plug-In Device: You’ll receive a Snapshot device in the mail about five to seven days after you sign up. Plug in the device and start driving with Snapshot as soon as you can. If you don’t want to plug in the device, simply return it. If you enrolled when you bought your policy, you must plug in within 45 days or you’ll lose any Participation Discount.
Mobile App: You’ll receive instructions on how to install and register the app. Register the app as soon as you can. If you enrolled when you bought your policy, you must register the app within 45 days or you’ll lose any Participation Discount.
You’ll drive with Snapshot throughout your policy life. At the end of each policy period, (which may be either six or 12 months – check your Policy Summary for details), if we have collected enough information, we will use your driving information to personalize the rate for your next policy term.
Snapshot Results
You’ll see the Snapshot results applied when you renew your policy at the end of each driving period after we have collected a full set of driving data . If you enrolled when you purchased your policy and this is your first renewal after enrollment, this will replace any Participation Discount.
Opting Out
If you decide within the first 45 days after you sign up that you no longer want to participate in Snapshot, simply return the device or uninstall the mobile app. You’ll lose any Participation Discount immediately, but keep your standard Progressive rate. If you stop participating more than 45 days after you sign up, we’ll remove any Participation Discount immediately. If we have collected enough driving information, we will use that to personalize your rate when your policy renews. If we have not collected enough driving information, we will apply a surcharge when your policy renews.
How Snapshot affects your insurance rate
If you enroll in Snapshot when you buy your policy, you’ll save immediately with a Participation Discount. If you continue to participate in the program, the discount will remain on your policy for up to two policy periods, or until we collect enough driving data to personalize your rate at your policy renewal.
Your Snapshot driving results are set at the end of each policy period. These results correspond to a discount for safer driving habits or an increase for riskier habits. Your driving results will be updated at the end of each policy period if we have collected enough driving data in that policy period.
If you stop participating more than 45 days after you sign up, we’ll remove any Participation Discount immediately. If we have collected enough driving information, we will use that to personalize your rate when your policy renews. If we have not collected enough driving information, we will apply a surcharge when your policy renews.
